Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha’s upcoming film won’t hit the theaters in Pakistan on Friday 29th November 2013. The film won’t release in Pakistan due to a court order passed, which states that no Indian film will be censored or released in Pakistan and Saif’s ‘Bullett Raja’ is the first victim. Last year also, Saif’s film ‘Agent Vinod’, alongside his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan was banned in Pakistan but that was for a different reason. At that time the censor board felt that it could hurt the sentiments of the locals.
This order was issued due to TV talk show host Mubashir Lucman who had filed a petition as a consequence of a disagreement among Paksitani TV channels. Reportedly, one of the channels which did not get the telecast rights of several Bollywood films initiated this petition. It has been confirmed that ‘Bullett Raja’ has not been censored in Pakistan and Amjad Rashid, a leading distributor of Bollywood films in Pakistan told the media, “It won’t open this Friday.” While producer Mukesh Bhatt is quite upset with this order, distributor Ramesh Sippy finds this weird.
As per trade analysts, this order is very unjust Bollywood not only generates revenue for Pakistan but also gives employment opportunities to its artistes. When Mazhar Zaidi, one of the producers of the Pakistani film ‘Zinda Bhaag’ this year, the country’s official entry to the Oscars, he said, “This order is a nuisance. We’re hoping the crisis will be resolved soon. I can speak about this only after I read the court order in detail.”
Meanwhile, good luck for Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Bullett Raja’.
